Description
Squeeze return to an idea first imagined in their teens with Trixies, a fully realised version of a concept album written by Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook when they were 19 and 16. Originally inspired by a fictional members club dreamt up in the early 1970s and set in a future vision of the 1980s, the record paints scenes that echo the glamour and shadow of a 1920s30s speakeasy, populated by sharp characters and rich storytelling. Though demoed at the time, the material was set aside for decades. Revisiting it now, the band bring youthful spark together with experienced songwriting and production, elevating the narrative sweep and theatrical moods within the songs. Recent live shows have already featured some of these previously unheard pieces, often noted for their dramatic, almost musical-theatre tone. The result is one of Squeezes most imaginative and expansive projects, connecting past and present through a playful, carefully crafted world.
