Several Shades Of Why is the first solo studio album from Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis. Recorded at his own, Bisquiteen Studios in Amherst, Massachusetts, the album sees Mascis strip back the raucous guitar lines and immense sound that Dinosaur Jr. is known for, opting instead for a folk and West Coast rock influenced acoustic album that reveals a tender side to his music. Backing comes from a host of artists including Kurt Vile, Broken Social Scenes Kevin Drew and Band Of Horses Ben Bridwell.
