Acclaimed composer and pianist Poppy Ackroyd returnswith ‘Liminal’, her intimate new album released June12th. Written and recorded during a period of profoundupheaval and transition, it marks a return to the core ofAckroyd’s practice, bringing piano and violin backtogether. Liminal will be released on black vinyl and the first time since 2019’s ‘Feathers’, Ackroyd reunitesthese two instruments exclusively, with every sound on thealbum drawn from piano and violin alone. Melody, harmony,rhythm and texture are all extracted from the physical bodiesof the instruments themselves, from bowed and pluckedstrings to percussive elements.
