Description

Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes have been recording albums since 1976 and are closely associated with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. They have recorded and/or performed several Springsteen songs, including The Fever and Fade Away. Springsteen has also performed with the band on numerous occasions and in 1991 guested on their Better Days album.
During the bands formative years Miami Steve Van Zandt acted as the bands co-leader, guitarist, songwriter, arranger and producer while other E Streeters including Clarence Clemons, Max Weinberg, Garry Tallent , Ernest Carter, Patti Scialfa and Soozie Tyrell have all performed, toured and/or recorded with the Jukes. The bands horn section The Miami Horns has also toured and recorded with Springsteen. I Dont Want To Go Home (1976) is Stax-influenced R&B, arranged and produced by the co-founder of the band and Springsteen confederate Steven Van Zandt and featuring songs written by Van Zandt and/or Springsteen. The Van Zandt-written I Dont Want To Go Home became Southsides signature song, an evocative mixture of horn-based melodic riffs and sentimental lyrics. The album features a number of guest artists and duets. How Come You Treat Me So Bad features a duet with Lee Dorsey, while Broke Down Piece of Man features a duet with Steven Van Zandt, It Aint the Meat (Its the Motion) features a duet with Kenny Popeye
Pentifallo and You Mean So Much To Me features a duet with Ronnie Spector.
