Shy Girl In Dub! sees McKone strip the songs back to their rhythmic core, reshaping them on an analogue mixing desk with live, improvised takes. Delays, spring reverb and tape echo are worked in real time, pushing Hollies honeyed vocals through waves of bass and drum pressure. Rooted in classic late 60s and 70s dub traditions, the record draws heavily on sound system culture. Shy Dub opens with cavernous echoes and heavyweight low-end, while Rockaway Dub leans into a one-drop pulse. Throughout, space and restraint give the grooves room to breathe.
