Returning to vinyl LP for the first time in decades is Herbert von Karajans celebrated recording of Edvard GreigsPeer Gynt Suites with the mighty Berliner Philharmoniker. Very impressive indeed. Somehow one feels that one could stretch out and touch the players, so vivid is the sound here. Peer Gynt is most beautifully donetheres no want of atmosphere here quite the contrary! Not to put too fine a point on it, this is a marvelous recording (Gramophone).
