‘Persistence of Time is the fifth studio album by American Thrash Metal band Anthrax, originally released in 1990, and later Grammy nominated for ‘Best Metal Performance’. This 30th-anniversary features remastered versions of the original release plus more material. The album spawned the hit singles ‘In My World’, and the Joe Jackson cover ‘Got The Time’.
The work, which was awarded gold in the U.S. for 500,000 records sold, is now released as an extensively equipped 2-CD set including behind-the-scenes tour footage DVD on Megaforce Records. The artwork, remastered for this edition, features the original design that was ultimately unused.
CD1 contains the fully remastered 11 tracks from the original album. The remastering, overseen by drummer Charlie Benante, was done by Anthrax specialist Paul Logus, who previously mastered the albums “Worship Music,” “For all Kings,” the EP “Anthems,” and the DVDs “Kings Among Scotland” and “Chile on Hell.”
In addition, CD1 includes a special bonus B-side of “I’m The Man” from 1990, which is more hip-hop than rock oriented, and a live version of “Time” recorded in 1991 at the Michigan Palace of Auburn Hills. The last 2 songs on CD1, as well as all 9 tracks on the 2nd CD, come from the ‘Charlie’s Stash’ trove, an incomparable collection consisting of samples, songwriting sessions, demos and live performances Benante recorded over the past 40 years.
The DVD contains ‘guerrilla style’ glimpses of touring during joint live dates with Iron Maiden in 1991.
