Description
Popty-Ping Records are pleased to announce the 7 vinyl release of All That We See or Seem c/w Breaks, the debut single from Shy and the Fight.
Shy and the Fight are a six-piece band from the border country between Chester and Llangollen. They write big-hearted songs that roll along on a crest of sparkling guitars, skewed electronics and soaring harmonies.
The band are an endearingly charismatic mixture of personalities and influences. Belle & Sebastian, The Beach Boys and rockabilly loom large in their musical landscape. It makes for a rousing and melodic listening experience.
Since their inception in 2009, their early demo recordings have earned them airplay and a BBC Introducing session from Radio 1 (Jen Long), BBC Radio Wales (Adam Walton), BBC East Midlands (Dean Jackson) and BBC 6music (Tom Robinson).
Theyre very much a 21st century band bristling with ideas, energy and initiative equally at home selling out hometown shows with queues snaking ½ a mile up the road from the venue, busking in town centres, or bewitching audiences at European festivals (Stop Making Sense, Split, Croatia). Its an inspirational, DIY ethic : a band of their time, memorably soundtracking their times.
Recent reviews have drawn comparisons to the Delgados, Leisure Society, Los Campesinos!, and Frank Turner (and Id throw a hint of Neautral Milk Hotel in there Matt).
Popty Ping Records This marks the debut release on Popty Ping Records (the Welsh colloquial term for a microwave oven). Popty Ping is a new project brought together as a collaboration between some friends with a
love of vinyl, innovative and collectable packaging and new bands deserving of greater attention. PING001 will be the first in a series of collectable, limited edition, 500 only pressing Vinyl 7 singles from the label, each in their own unique presentation. Further releases in the series are scheduled for August and November 2012.
