Released in 2013, Vertikal is the sixth studio album from Swedish post-metal band Cult of Luna and one of the most ambitious records in their catalogue. Inspired by Fritz Lang’s 1927 film Metropolis, the album is a sprawling, cinematic work that uses the imagery of industrialisation, alienation and dystopia as the backdrop for some of the band’s most intense and immersive music.
