Description
In the early 1980s, Long Islands Stray Cats almost single-handedly renewed interest in rockabilly. The Cats were an unprecedented success, thanks to Brian Setzers skilled fretwork and the bands retro sound and image, which stood out against MTVs rotation of new-wave hair bands. The act stormed into the top ten three times in two years with Rock This Town, Stray Cat Strut, and (Shes) Sexy & 17. Although the band was short-lived, Setzer emerged in the 90s as the lynchpin of yet another revivalist movementswingwith the hugely successful Brian Setzer Orchestra.
