The drum heros classic 1966 hard-bop album. Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, on 24th April/15th May 1964. The final Messengers album to feature classic trio Wayne Shorter (tenor saxophone), Reggie Workman (bass) and Cedar Walton (piano). The sextet is completed by the great Lee Morgan (trumpet) and Curtis Fuller (trombone). Featuring two superb Fuller originals (The Egyptian, Sortie), plus Shorters Mr Jin, Morgans Calling Miss Khadija and Waltons When Love Is New. Produced by Blue Note co-founder Alfred Lion. Includes session photography by Francis Wolff and liner notes by Leonard Feather.
