Description
We all loved the last album here. Old timey country from American husband and wife duo. Its not a massive departure from their signature sound but if anything, this album is a little less bluegrass and a liitle more poppy. Which is no bad thing it turns out.
Shovels & Rope consists of two artists with music careers prior to joining forces. Cary Ann Hearst is an acclaimed singer/songwriter who has been featured on NPRs Weekend Edition and had her song Hell Bells used in HBOs True Blood. Michael Trent is a celebrated solo artist and the former singer/guitarist of band The Films. They are husband and wife.
Since 2010, Shovels & Rope has been travelling the highways and back roads of North America, logging hundreds of shows and performing for crowds large and small. In 2011 alone, they were invited to tour with a wide array of acts including Justin Townes Earle, Jason Isbell, the Felice Brothers, Hayes Carll and Butch Walker, and have accumulated a fiercely loyal fan base along the way, building an audience the old-fashioned way.
If there is an American rock movement of the now, this acoustic twosome from Charleston, S.C., is close to the nerve centre. New York Times
Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent were solid singers and songwriters on their own, but the pairing is truly a thing of magic Filter
