Failed Entertainment takes the bands talent for soundtracking the human condition to a new, elevated plane. Failed Entertainment examines vast, philosophical inquiries throughout its eleven tracks. Rather than the short, intense bursts of energy that 2016s Paramount delivered, songs here are given more space to contort in strange new shapes. Yet even as the bands songs are more expansive than theyve ever been, these questions are answered in hyperspecific, conversational narratives that often feel like stream-of-consciousness thoughts statements are repeated, reworded, contradicted, dismissed, and reaffirmed all within moments. Harnessing this chaos and ferocity is at the center of the theme of Failed Entertainment, which is authenticity in every possible moment: to investigate grief devoid of melodrama, to urge political change off the soapbox, to examine everything in sight without grandiose diagnosis.
