Derrick Morgan, the undisputed King of Ska, proved his talents extended far beyond the genres 1960s heyday. As ska evolved into rocksteady and then reggae, Morgans distinctive voice adapted effortlessly, forging a lasting creative partnership with producer Bunny Striker Lee. The pair first struck gold with Hold Your Jack, a Jamaican hit whose rhythm later underpinned Max Romeos UK smash Wet Dream. By the early 1970s, Lee was at the peak of his powers, winning Jamaican Producer of the Year for four consecutive years. In 1974 he brought Morgan into the studio to record In The Mood, a vibrant showcase of reggae rhythms and vocal authority.
