“Hawks & Doves” is the twelfth studio album by neil young, and was released in October 1980. Both sides of the original vinyl edition were recorded under different circumstances: face a included discards from recording sessions that took place between 1974 and 1977, while face b included songs recorded specifically for the album in the early 1980s. “this note’s for you” was his first studio album after leaving geffen and was young’s first foray into r&b and blues by incorporating a winds section into most songs. It was released in April 1988. “re-ac-tor” is the thirteenth studio album by neil young, and was released on reprise records in November 1981. The album, recorded with the band crazy horse, links the musician’s electric sound in the late 1970s to his growing interest in new genres such as the new wave.
